Gilgamesh brought to life an ancient Sumerian story, one of the oldest written stories in all literature. Yet the themes are strangely contemporary: the tension between wilderness and civilization, the relation of man to nature, the terror of loss, and the realization of mortality. This outdoor production featured giant images, dance, chanting, music, unusual puppetry and direct narration. With GILGAMESH, Clay and Paper hoped to connect us to our most ancient past, to help us see our common humanity.
